We are now tasked with constructing a 3d model of a wild western style building, we are provided with a small library of reference images to pick from and merely trying to represent the main idea of the image we pick. I selected a mill because it is supposed to be the most challenging, I have always found that a challenge is the best way to strengthen myself so it made the decision easy.
I created the rough mesh by using a few cubes and plenty of extrusions while carefully watching how many edge loops I was making to create a decent flow through the whole thing as I progress. I found a decent trick to get good edge loop flow when making doors/windows. I select the faces on both sides and perform the same functions on each side. In this case I extruded out .25 to make the frame, extruded again decreasing scale of all values by .5 (this created the inner edge of the frame). Next I extruded once more while watching from the side I moved the sides in toward the center of the wall to get them both extremely close, next I deleted the faces, selected vertices on both ends and merged them.
