Drapery Project March 3, 2013

I have made some decent progress in Analysis of Form while working on a drapery drawing project. The majority of it has been with willow charcoal aside from the main cast shadow caused by the cloth onto the background. For that darkest shade I had to use compressed charcoal to get proper contrast between the shadow and black background.

I absolutely love charcoal, and I think you did a really good job on this. This class is not required for my degree I don’t think, but I would love to take it. I heard it’s brutal.

I really like your shading and gradation on your cloth. As the semester progress your lines will be cleaner. I am heavy handed so I am still learning to draw lightly. Charcoal is tough. But I still like your drawing its really good. Especially since you said in your previous posts that you’re more experienced in digital arts than traditional. Can’t wait to see more of your work.
